Cryopreservation of mammalian cells.

Description:
Cryopreservation is a procedure to stabilize cells at cryogenic temperatures for long term storage in liquid nitrogen. During the freezing process the usage of cryoprotective additives protects fragile membranes and organelles of the cells by minimizing the damage associated with ice crystal formation. Classical cryopreservation media contain DMSO with stabilizers such as FBS (Fetal Bovine Serum).

• This solution should be added to the cell pellet, not exceeding 10×106 cells/ml. This is toxic to cells. Once added, rapidly transfer to the -80C freezer.
• Cells can be stored at a minimum temperature of –80°C, but for long term storage the cells should be stored in ultra-low temperature freezers (–150°C) or in liquid nitrogen (–196°C).

Storage conditions:: -20°C, for frequent use, product can be stored 2 to 8o C up to 1 month.
